Bobby Deetz’s photographs are meditations on brilliant colors, complex textures, and unusual light. Bobby uses their camera, often simply an iPhone, to create moments of joy and gratitude in everyday life. They study both the extraordinary non-human animals found in nature, as well as the layered textures of metal, cement, and light found in the urban landscape.
Bobby most recently exhibited their Viewing Depths collection in a group show in Berkeley, California. They have participated in several group shows as well as Pro Arts Open Studios in Oakland, CA.
Bobby Deetz was born in 1971 and grew up in Kansas. They graduated with a BA in Arts with an emphasis in Photography from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1994.
